The mission of our school is to teach understanding and respect for racial,
cultural and linguistic diversity. This is accomplished through a model
bilingual/immersion program for all students which emphasizes the
acquisition of a second language, high academic standards, cooperation with
others and the appreciation of each individual's uniqueness.
Philosophical Premises of the school program:
- The school seeks to build within each child a sense of responsibility,
confidence, pride and self-worth.
- High standards of achievement and behavior are explicitly stated and
consistently enforced.
- Students are challenged to perform at the highest degree to which they
are capable.
- Appreciation of ethnic diversity, cultural pluralism and individual
differences is fostered in the school setting.
- The development of biliteracy is a primary goal at Alianza.
- A priority of the school program is mastery of the academic tools of
reading, writing & math.
- Time on task has a direct relationship to learning achievement.
- All constituencies of the school community are involved in decision making.
- Student potential is broadened through the application of basic skills
to enrichment areas: Science, performing arts and physical education.
- Students are supported and challenged to develop self-awareness and
esteem as participants in a local and global community through our
environmental studies strand.
- Alianza develops well rounded and capable individuals who will make a
contribution to a democratic society.
