Organization and focus:

1.1:  Use letters and phonetic spelling to write about people, objects, and events.

1.2:  Write consonant-vowel-consonant words.

1.3:  Write left to right, top to bottom.

Penmanship:

1.4:  Write upper and lower case letters, attending to form.

WRITING: Strategies and Applications

 

Organization and focus:

(1.1) Copy words posted and commonly used in the classrooms.

Write a phrase or simple sentence about an experience generated from a group story. 

(1.2) RECOMMENDED:  Copy cvc words used in classroom units.

(1.3) RECOMMENDED:  Trace letters, left to right top to bottom.

Penmanship:

(1.4) Copy the English alphabet legibly.

 

Kindergarten Ð Early Intermediate Level

 

WRITING: Strategies and Applications

 

Organization and focus:

(1.1) Write simple sentences using key words posted and commonly used in the classroom (e.g., labels, names, days of the week, and months: ÒToday is Tuesday.Ó).

Write simple sentences about events or characters from familiar stories read by the teacher.

(1.2) RECOMMENDED:  Write short lists (3-5 words) of cvc word families.

(1.3) RECOMMENDED:  Copy classroom words, left to right top to bottom.

Penmanship:           

(1.4) RECOMMENDED:  Write first name correctly.

 

Kindergarten Ð Intermediate Level

 

WRITING: Strategies and Applications

 

Organization and focus:

(1.1) Following a model, use the writing process to independently write short paragraphs of at least three lines.

Produce independent writing that is understood when read, but may include inconsistent use of standard grammatical forms.

(1.2) Write simple sentences appropriate for language arts and other contents areas.

(1.3) Write first name correctly.

Penmanship:

(1.4) RECOMMENDED:  Write lower case and capital letters.

Kindergarten Ð Early Advanced Level

Organization and focus:

(1.1) Use the writing process to write short paragraphs that maintains a consistent focus. 

(1.2) Use complex vocabulary and sentences appropriate for languages arts and other content areas.

(1.3) RECOMMENDED:  Copy a sentence correctly.

Penmanship:

(1.4) RECOMMENDED:  Write first and last name correctly.

 

Kindergarten Ð Advanced Level

Organization and focus:

(1.1) Use writing process to write clear and coherent sentences and paragraphs that maintain a consistent focus. 

(1.2) Write short narratives that include examples of writing appropriate for language arts and other content areas.

Produce independent writing using correct grammatical forms.

Penmanship:

(1.4) RECOMMENDED:  Write short phrases and sentences with correct capitalization and punctuation, if appropriate.
